Tomorrow, I will be flying across the country to participate in Breaking Silence class.
For those of you who will not be at CatalystCon, you can follow the live-tweets of the session at #cconbreak.
The session starts at 12:30 Pacific time (3:30 Eastern time)
For those of you who missed it, here is a link to the webinar I gave last month on Troubleshooting Power Exchange.
Mollena talks about the importance of what she calls the Prime Directive in her service.
Her prime directive is as follows:
"It is the primary responsibility for the slave to protect the Master's property at all times, up to and including protecting the property from their master."
Basically, effective self care gets woven into the fabric of her dynamics.
As she says, she engages in power exchange, "not a power dump, not a power coup-d'état". No matter how complete the exchange of power is in any given dynamic, both parties are still responsible for insuring that their needs are met. As such, there has to be space for both parties in any dynamic to practice effective self advocacy and effective self care.
